WHO Assembly passes a declaration affirming palliative as a health care imperative

This historic step ensures for the first time that member states of the WHO are urged to take a range of steps to ensure adequate palliative care, and appropriate access to medicine is a core responsibility. The WHO will measure the state of palliative care when assessing the quality of health care provided by each country.

Take the time to read the declaration.

The first part is a great summary of the incredible strides taken from the development of the idea, to this current position. We owe a great deal of debt to those who have advocated in so many ways for this - the full acceptance of palliative care officially recognised world wide.
